Propose A Production

Fall 2026 - Summer 2027 Season Proposals Are Now Open!

Submission Deadline: January 31st, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET

Thank you for applying to direct with Mill Race Theatre Company! We strive to create a sustainable theatre arts program that can positively transform the community. Below is our form with required information needed for the Program Development Committee to review and consider your proposal. All applicants should demonstrate:

  • A passion for the theatre

  • Strong organizational skills (including time management)

  • Strong communication skills

  • The ability to successfully collaborate with a group

  • Willingness to give and receive constructive criticism

  • A strong sense of respect for others.

We suggest first-time directors and directors new to the organization consider staffing our current season’s productions first to get a sense of how we do things. You can tell us what staff roles you’re interested in by filling out our Staff Member Interest Form here. Serving as a stage manager, production manager, tech director, and/or assistant director first will set you, your staff, cast, and the organization up for success. Working with only volunteers and no permanent staff, we are faced with unique challenges so filling your staff with veteran MRTC staff members will also help make a smooth production.

We pay directors between $300-$800 for smaller shows and $800-$1200 larger shows, depending on the budget, size of cast, and technical complexity of the show.

After completing the form below, our Program Development Committee will receive a notification and review your proposal. They will reach out with additional questions and next steps. Directors that are selected for a show slot will be assigned a board liaison as a resource to ensure the best production possible.

If you have questions, please ask! Remember, this is a volunteer group, and that we are all here because we love theatre and we each have something to contribute. You can reach out to the ‘26-’27 season program development chair, Alayna Nelson at alaynanelson@millracetheatre.org with any proposal questions.

“Through the power of theatrical arts, Mill Race Theatre Company expands minds, develops character, and instills confidence. We nourish collaborative possibilities to entertain, imagine, and explore.”- Mill Race Theatre Company Mission Statement

Sincerely,
The Mill Race Theatre Company Board of Directors
