Miracle on 34th Street
Synopsis: By chance, Kris Kringle, an old man in a retirement home, gets a job working as Santa for Macy's. Kris unleashes waves of goodwill with Macy's customers and the commercial world of New York City by referring parents to other stores to find exactly the toy their child has asked for. Seen as deluded and dangerous by Macy's vocational counselor, who plots to have Kris shanghaied to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital, Kris ends up in a court competency hearing. Especially at stake is one little girl's belief in Santa. In a dramatic decision, the court confirms Kris as the true Santa, allowing Susan and countless other children to experience the joy of childhood fantasy.

WHO CAN AUDITION: This show will cast 4 Principals, 20-25 supporting/ensemble. Anyone ages 7 & up (The director is flexible on bottom age – must be able to read written instructions). Only the principal roles are gender specific; no limitations based on race or ethnicity.
HOW TO PREPARE:
AUDITION FORMS & WAIVERS: You can fill out a digital audition form prior to auditioning here. Additionally, you can review our participation waiver in advance here. Paper copies of both will be present at auditions. A waiver must be signed by each actor auditioning in person and every cast member.
VIRTUAL AUDITIONS: Virtual auditions are also available for this production if you cannot attend one of the in-person audition dates. They must be submitted by October 11.
CASTING AND REHEARSALS: The cast list will be released on the MRTC website and social media pages on October 14, The first read-through will be held between October 15 & October 18, with the first official rehearsal on October 19. Rehearsals will be no more than 4 nights per week, Sunday-Thursday (final schedule TBD). Principals should expect to be at most rehearsals. Supporting & Ensemble should expect to attend between 1-3 nights per week. All cast must attend every night during the final week. For a full character list breakdown, expand the next section below.

Principal Roles
Kris Kringle -Warm, witty, compassionate man who sincerely believes he is Santa Claus. Brings joy to children and challenges cynicism in adults.
Doris Walker- Smart, practical Macy’s executive and single mother. Protective, skeptical, and determined to avoid “fairy tales.”
Fred Gayley - Kind, thoughtful lawyer and Doris’s neighbor.
Susan Walker - Precocious, logical, no‑nonsense child who slowly learns to believe.

Shellhammer- Energetic, flustered Macy’s employee trainer
R.H. Macy- Commanding, enthusiastic department store owner. Loves good publicity.
