March Into Literacy Month Book Drive

On May 1, 2026, families are invited to First Fridays for Families: The Great Alphabet Adventure, a free children’s theatre performance at The Commons that celebrates letters, words, and the magic of stories.

To support the literacy theme of the show, Mill Race Theatre Company, Columbus Area Arts Council, Bartholomew County Public Library, and Viewpoint Books are partnering on a community book drive from February 27 - April 17, 2026!

Our goal is simple: every child attending the performance will receive a new-to-them book to take home.

How You Can Help

We are accepting:

  • New or gently used children’s books (all ages)

  • Monetary donations to help purchase additional books (Checks made payable to Bartholomew Country Public Library, memo: First Fridays Book Drive)

Viewpoint will provide a 20% discount for in-stock books that are purchased at their stores for donation toward the book drive. Thank you to our generous partners at Viewpoint Books! Any books not distributed at the event will continue to serve families through BCPL Express, extending the impact across our community.
