    AUDITION DETAILS:

WHEN: Sunday August 13th, 1pm-3pm and Monday, August 14th, 7-9pm
(choose one session to attend only)
WHERE: The Commons, Xenia Miller Room (located on the second floor), 300 Washington St, Columbus, IN 47201
WHO: Anyone can audition! We are looking for anyone who presents as being in their mid-20’s and older.

    PERFORMANCE DATES: September 29th, 30th & October 1st

WHAT TO PREPARE: Auditioners should have a prepared comedic monologue, approximately 1 minute in length, and will be expected to participate in some small group cold readings extracted from the play. Sample Monologues will be available to those who decide to audition last minute, but we ask that you do your best to prepare prior auditions.

REHEARSAL PROCESS: Our rehearsal schedule for “The Marriage Counselor” is going to be a little bit different from how the past few shows have been, and we don’t want anyone caught off guard by it. Cast members will have scripts distributed to them at our first read through, which is scheduled for Thursday, August 17th. They will then be asked to work on character development and line memorization away from the group for a 2–3 week period. During this time, the director will be available via phone call, text, or email to provide any insights and assistance, and a couple of cast meetings will be planned (dates TBD, based on cast conflicts). We will start our traditional rehearsals on Tuesday, September 5th and will meet regularly for the following weeks. The entire process will still take around 6 weeks, but the first couple of weeks will be treated as “independent study.”

CAST EXPECTATIONS: Beginning Tuesday, September 5th, cast members will be expected to attend rehearsals 3-4 days a week Monday-Thursday until Tech Week. All rehearsals during Tech Week, September 24th- October 1st, will be mandatory.

    WHAT TO WEAR: Comfortable clothing

Audition forms will be available at auditions. Please have a list of your potential conflicts for dates of rehearsals.

Rehearsals will start Tuesday, September 5th, post the initial read through on Thursday, August 17th.

If unavailable during stated audition times: We prefer that auditioners attend in person, as it is helpful to see potential cast members together; however, we understand that circumstances may arise where this is not possible. If you are unable to attend auditions, please provide a video of yourself reciting a prepared comedic monologue, approximately 1 minute in length. Send video auditions to auditions@millracetheatre.org.

Video auditions must be received by August 13th, 2023, at 11:59pm to be considered.

There are plenty of ways to get involved backstage or on staff. Please visit our “Get Involved” page and fill out the form, or send us a direct message on Facebook or Instagram.
